SulAmérica targeting social causes
Insurer supports projects related to health, well-being and socio-cultural issues

It is no longer today that SulAmérica Seguros shows interest in social projects. This has happened since its founding 122 years ago. It is part of the company’s culture to support actions to access health and improve the quality of life of the population.
As of 2009 this support began to be monitored more closely by the company, with the use of metrics and results indicators. For Patricia Coimbra, director of Human Capital and Sustainability, the results are perceived in the long term. “When we act in prevention today, we contribute to a healthier population in the future and become more aware of the use of insurance,” he says.
In nine years, 220 organizations received the company’s support for their projects. In 2017, the contribution was approximately R $ 7 million through tax incentive laws. For 2018, the expectation is that the amount reaches R $ 8 million.
The selection of new projects takes place annually, usually in the last quarter of the year and is divided into two edicts: one to attract socio-cultural projects and the other to search for initiatives related to health and well-being.
In addition, the company supports non-incentive projects, that is, those that receive investment without intermediation of any Fiscal Incentive Law.
Social and cultural projects
Among the projects supported by the insurer, two are highlighted by providing more than social support, as they also work for the training of students: Cia. Brasileira de Ballet (CBB), based in Rio de Janeiro and the School of Dance of the Municipal Theater of Sao Paulo.
“Throughout our history we have supported social programs and we know how important they are to future generations. Close monitoring of the personal and artistic growth of these young dancers is very gratifying, “says Zeca Vieira, director of Corporate Marketing at SulAmérica.
One of these young talents is Wendel Vieira of 11 years. The dancer claims that in a short time he learned a lot from the classical ballet. “I believe that the professional career will be tiring and pleasurable and I intend to dedicate myself to the maximum to realize my dream”, affirms Wendel. In the show My First Municipal – Tchaikovsky, Wendel will debut the Pas De Deux of The girl in the Red Hood, which is part of the Suite of The Sleeping Beauty.
Jorge Teixeira, director of Companhia Brasileira de Ballet, talks about the importance of the
insurer’s support for the project: “SulAmérica’s support came as a divine gift. We had decided to close the activities. Today we have an average of 82 participants, among children, young people and adults. We’re going to end the season with “The Nutcracker,” he says.
