One of the most traditional entities in the sector, the Chamber of Insurance Brokers of the State of S\u00e3o Paulo (Camaracor-SP) recently completed 17 years of existence. The broker and lawyer Pedro Barbato Filho has been the president since its creation, on January 21, 2004. Also a broadcaster, the broker has been presenting a weekly interview program since 1991 (see text in this edition).
\nBarbato and a group of 25 professionals from the sector founded the entity, according to the first meeting record that took place in a hotel in the center of the S\u00e3o Paulo city. \u201cThat moment, I was approached by a broker friend to establish an institution as a Chamber that existed in Rio Grande do Sul\u201d, he recalls. The idea had an effect. Then, Barbato and colleague Lacir Marcondes de Mello idealized what would be the future Camaracor-SP.
\nAfter the founding act and choosing the board, the debates on the rules began. According to the president, the entity aims to represent and strengthen members, seeking to improve and develop their activities. It did not take long for the Chamber to become a category attraction pole. An example is the \u201cTribuna Livre\u201d, a traditional event held in 47 editions. Associates, brokers, industry figures and guests met in S\u00e3o Paulo to attend presentations by insurance companies and service providers that showed their products and business opportunities.
\n\u201cIn this event, information from the market and a subject of interest to the category always attracted a significant number of participants\u201d, he points out. Barbato, who always released the meetings on his radio program, highlights an important detail: Camaracor-SP was a pioneer in holding events after the commercial office hour. \u201cLater other entities decided to do the same\u201d, he adds.
\nIn addition to Tribuna Livre, Barbato highlights other notable events. Annually, the traditional \u201cFesta Junina\u201d, accompanied by a tasty feijoada, is a meeting point for members, industry professionals, executives and the specialized press. In December, this same public is also present in restaurants or party rooms bustling celebrations. \u201cThese events have always been supported by a group of sponsors.
