The gradual advance of women in the job market and in the business world is an unquestionable fact. Unlike several decades ago, they occupy a privileged space in practically all areas occupied by man. And it is not few matter: they unfold themselves as mothers, housewives, wives, family heads in some cases, professionals or executives. Officialized by the United Nations (UN) in 1975, International Women’s Day is an achievement that reaffirms the recognition of women’s rights throughout history.
In the insurance sector, the leaders’ effort and competence in their respective companies has led to a reduction in inequality in terms of positions and
wages against men. Opportunities in the corporate environment increase in same proportion to the women’s value, evidenced by his intellectual and profissional improvement. The numbers testify this new reality.
In the 3rd Study “Women in the Insurance Market in Brazil”, coordinated by the School of Business and Insurance (ENS), there is very encouraging data. According to the survey, female labor corresponds to 55% of the total market. Women won 25.9% of the executive positions of insurance companies in Brazil. At the management level, they are 46.5% and, in the area of coordination, the majority: 54.4%. Although men maintain leadership in their work positions, women increase their companies’ representation.
In the opinion of the president of the Association of Women in the Insurance Market (AMMS), Simone Vizani, the biggest challenge is that the right conditions are created for there to be equal opportunities in the sector in their careers. “We are confident. I remember that, until 2012, there was one executive woman for every four men. This picture has changed a little. Today, there is one woman for every three men. However, in leadership positions, unfortunately we are below the world average”, she stressed.
