“Women’s Leadership in Organizations, does that matter?” With this question began the 1st Panel of the cycle of monthly workshops of 2019, held by CIST (International Club of Insurance of Transports), in São Paulo.
With the mediation of Mayra Monteiro from Kam Corretora and manager of Sascar, the first debate was given by Camila Calais (photo left), a partner lawyer at the Mattos Filho office, AIDA’s working group vice-president and a professor at the National Insurance School. Also in attendance was Cristina Domingues, CEO of Starr Companies in Brazil and Simone Martins, vice president of Sincor-SP.
For Camila, the importance of talking about female leadership in organizations goes beyond the question of gender debate and has to do, especially, with the growth of companies. “Global studies point out: the company that wants to grow, has to look at a larger audience. Many multinationals are already attentive. Companies with more women in leadership tend to be more profitable. Team of people with different thoughts generates more innovation and speed in making decisions “, she emphasizes.
The 2nd Panel: “Challenges in the Logistics and Freight Transport Sector in Brazil” was chaired by Leila Chaves (photo right), a partner in Solid Risk and Insurance Management Advisory Board and as debaters Guilherme Brochmann and Sérgio Casagrande. Leila said she did not believe in risk management without being people-oriented. For her there are two important pillars: “people and technology: one without another can not develop, because everything involves people and technology. One of the needs of the transport sector is retaining talent, the other is to have the best technological tools, remembering that behind the technology there are people involved, “she says.
Salvatore Lombardi, president of CIST, comments on the importance of placing female leadership at the center of the debates in the first meeting of 2019. “This was a demand that arose from the will of the members of the organization. The board follows what is happening in terms of diversity. That is why it is necessary to foster this issue more and more in companies, “said Salvatore.
