CNseg presents proposals to candidates
Document suggests actions for social agenda and resumption of economic growth
The National Confederation of Insurers (CNseg) announces the initiative “Proposals of the Brazilian Insurance Sector to the Presidential Candidates – 2018.” Márcio Coriolano president of the entity, Alexandre Leal, technical director, Edson Franco, president of FenaPrevi, Solange Beatriz Mendes, president of Fenasaúde and Carlos Alberto dos Santos Correa, representative of Marcos Renato Coltri da Fenacap, presented the demands, spoke about the importance and participation of industry in the economy of the country.
The insurance sector has R $ 1.2 trillion in assets to guarantee the assumed risks, equivalent to 25% of the Brazilian public debt, an amount that positions it among the country’s major institutional investors. With revenues that already represent 6.5% of the Brazilian GDP, the sector has the potential to grow even more. “We are in 46th place in the world ranking in per capita consumption, in disagreement with the country’s economy, the ninth largest in the world,” analyzed the president of CNseg, Márcio Coriolano.
The 22 proposals were submitted to all candidates for president. The objective is to contribute with concrete measures, proposed by insurance market experts, to overcome the challenges that will be facing the one elected in October. The document highlights:
- Its importance in the context of Social Security reform, to reduce the vulnerability of the State.
- A regulatory framework favorable to the expansion of rural insurance, offering more muscle to agribusiness.
- The need for guarantee insurance for major infrastructure works.
- The democratization of access to plans and health insurance with objective rules of risk sharing and care.
- The economic relevance and the social relevance of the capitalization segment.
- The urgency of improving the rules for applying its assets, in view of the role of institutional investors in the sector.
- The set of actions to promote social inclusion, through popular insurance.
